Rigsby in the Lincolnshire Wolds overlooking the Sea
In the Stone Age, Rigsby stood on a cliff overlooking the
sea. Today it looks over Alford, the flat land and in the distance, Mablethorpe,
Sutton-on-Sea
and the North Sea.
Rigsby is probably derived from the language of the Norsemen that once
occupied the land. It means 'village on the Ridge' - 'by' means 'village'
or 'farm'
